Pretty cool coffee shop with outdoor seating. I went in to order a matcha latte and came out with two avocado toasts for both myself and my teen. We ate outside for the first half our toasts and left because it was windy and chilly. My matcha was yummy and perfectly frothed. The avocado toast with the chickpea salad was delicious! I'll return if I'm in the area but forego the food, just due to pricing!

More Than Just Coffee: A Plant-Based Dream at Rooted Coffee Rooted Coffee may have coffee in its name, but don't let that fool you. They are so much more than just a coffee shop. As a gluten-free, primarily plant-based chef, I am always on the lookout for places that nourish both my body and soul, and Rooted Coffee has become one of my go-to spots. Their menu is a dream, with most items being gluten-free, including their baked goods, and all are made with whole, plant-based ingredients. From avocado dream toasts to parfaits, salads, and waffles, the food is both nourishing and delicious. As someone who teaches plant based cooking classes, strength and qigong classes, I appreciate being able to refuel with satisfying meals that align with my dietary preferences. I know when I visit Rooted, I'm going to get high-quality, wholesome food and a hot matcha to warm me up and keep me going and I don't have to cook it I've had the pleasure of dining at both their Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill locations. Walnut Creek offers both indoor and outdoor seating, which is great for different weather conditions. Pleasant Hill, while only offering outdoor seating, has heaters to keep things comfortable, and I tend to frequent this location more since it's closer to my classes. I recently took someone who is not plant-based or gluten-free to join me for a meal after one of my classes. They were a bit hesitant at first, but after trying the food, they shared how much they enjoyed and couldn't wait to go back! It's always great to see how Rooted's menu can appeal to everyone, including kids, regardless of dietary preferences, proving that plant-based and gluten-free options can be both delicious and satisfying for all.

My go to spot during my admin program at the county office of Ed. We showed up with group orders in person and to go. Everything was perfect. Orders always correct. I will five a heads up that even the "plain, traditional" avo toast has a kick. If sensitive to spice be aware and tell them no chili flakes. There are several picnic tables outside if choose to stay. No indoor dining.

Seems to be a very popular coffee place in Pleasant Hill, a lot of people while we were here but plenty of outdoor seating to go around. You get in line to order your food, find a place to sit and they call your name once your food is ready and bring it to you. The guy taking your order was very pleasant and informative about the different coffees. We ordered the vanilla mint latte and brown sugar latte which were average, but the winner was the classic waffle which was amazing. We enjoyed the crispy outer layer but soft in the inside and the ingredients it was made out of just taste healthy. Also, paired with the strawberries and bananas complimented this classic dish. Last but not least, they have a vibrant energetic staff that provided the best service with a smile!

Finally had a chance to try the Pleasant Hill location with a friend this morning! I had the vanilla mint latte and make it fresh avocado toast. Latte had a nice balance of vanilla and mint. They do not skimp on the avocado and it paired nicely with the balsamic vinaigrette. Friend had green tea and the strawberry chia pudding. I tried some of her pudding, which was very good (also my first time trying chia seeds - they taste a bit like very mini boba). The barista who took my order was friendly and even complimented me on my koala shirt! Only downsides are that space is limited and they close early compared to the WC location. I actually tried to come here one afternoon with another friend and we didn't realized they closed early. I would have taken a star off for closing earlier than WC, but they let us stay outside even though we left around 1:15-1:20 pm. We will be back!
